Crack Filling — A-1 Asphalt Paving

Crack Filling

Hot-pour rubberized filler stops water before it spreads.

Overview

What We Deliver

Water getting into cracks is how asphalt fails. In New Jersey, that water freezes, expands, and turns small cracks into potholes over a single winter. A-1 Asphalt Paving uses hot-pour rubberized crack filler — heated to 375°F and melted into every crack — to seal the pavement back up and stop the damage before it spreads.

  • Hot-pour rubberized crack sealant
  • Sealed flush with the pavement surface
  • Stops water infiltration and freeze-thaw damage
  • Essential before seal-coating
  • Extends pavement life dramatically

How We Work

Our Process

Every crack filling project at A-1 Asphalt Paving follows a proven sequence we've refined over 30+ years in the field.

1

Clean the Crack

Compressed air and wire brush remove all dirt, grass, and loose debris from inside the crack.

2

Heat the Sealant

Rubberized sealant is heated in a melter to 375°F for correct flow and adhesion.

3

Pour

Hot sealant is poured into cracks and squeegeed flush with the surface.

4

Cool & Drive

Cools in 20–30 minutes. The lot is ready for traffic same day.

FAQ

Common Questions

When should I crack-fill?
As soon as you see cracks wider than 1/4". Ideal conditions are dry pavement and temperatures above 40°F.
Do I need to fill cracks before seal-coating?
Yes — sealer is a surface treatment. It won't fill cracks; it'll just drop down into them. Always crack-fill first.
How long does crack-fill last?
Properly applied hot-pour filler lasts 3–8 years depending on traffic and climate.
